Land Code Development:

Leq'á:mel First Nation is currently involved with developing a Land Code that which will be used instead of the existing sections of the Indian Act with respect to land management.  The goal is for more control over how our lands are managed and to speed up the processes that could lead to economically and environmentally friendly business ventures.

Youth Recreation:

Since February 2006 the Leq’á:mel First Nation has been successful in holding youth recreation nights.  Monday, Wednesday and Fridays are for sports related activities.  There are three different age categories and interests.

Cultural:

Since February 2006 the Leq’á:mel First Nation has offered drumming an singing on Tuesdays and halqemeylem language class on Thursdays.  It is hoped to expand the cultural activities and teachings into drum making and crafts and traditional cedar bark gathering and medicine walks during the respective seasons.
